My Easy Portland dress revisited

This is my easy Portland dress. I actually bought it on my first trip to Portland, Oregon four years ago. It was January and I was browsing the Buffalo Exchange, a famous Portland thrift/vintage shop. I remember thinking that it was comfortable and I liked how unique it was. The buttons that line both sides on the chest and torso section give it sort of a nautical look. It has a comfy material and it’s black. You can never go wrong with a little black dress. And of course my regular readers know how much I love a good LBD.

So I bought it in the dead of winter and wore it a ton. I mean this has been my go-to dress ever since. This past year though, it was packed away in a box that I forgot about until several weeks ago. It was like Christmas opening a box of dresses I had forgotten about. I was so happy to have my favorite LBD back in my closet again.

The easy Portland dress

This week, I am exploring Portland, Oregon with one of my best friends. She asked me to plan a trip for her back in February and I said yes with the only stipulation being that I get to come along. I had only been once and was excited to experience Portland in warm weather. So we booked it and here we are!

As I was packing, it only seemed fitting to pack my easy Portland dress. After all, why not?

What I look for in a good travel dress

I absolutely love to travel. In this next year, I’m going to be teaching English in Spain. My plan is to blog about all my travels. Over these next few weeks, you’ll see all of my Portland adventures.

When traveling, comfort is important. I always opt to wear a dress when traveling in nice weather. It’s just so easy. Here are my tips:

  • Choose something comfortable
  • Choose a breezy material
  • Choose something you know well

    1. Thanks! Yeah you are definitely right about accessorizing. I always end up with pieces that are super colorful.

  1. There’s nothing like a classic LBD to get you through the day. I really like this dress and how you styled it, perfect for a day of going around the city.

  2. Very nice and cute dress! That’s so true – choose something that you know what comes to choosing your travel outfit. I have to keep that in my mind. A new dress is not the best choice when travelling.

    1. Yeah dresses are the best. I obviously think that considering I started a blog devoted to them.

  3. I like this Portland dress. It’s casual and stylish in the same time. And, it suits you perfectly!

    1. Thanks! I oddly enough found those shades on another vacation … to Florida like four months ago.

  4. your dress is absolutely gorgeous and i must say since i love dark colours and black i love it even more. For me, a good travel dress is a nice and comfy pants (can be jeans, tracks, or even trousers) and a top (t-shirt, long shirts). If its freeing cold, (coming from India, England weather is too cold), a matching/contrasting jacket would do it all. 🙂

    1. Hahaha yeah for airplane travel, I’m right there with you. I wore jeans on the plane there and back but also just to save room. I’m a fan of wearing your bulkiest stuff on the plane.
