Sometimes a simple change of location lets you see a place from a new perspective. Last month, I stayed in the Appia Residences Prague for the first time. However it was not my first time in Prague. I had been to the city several times a few summers ago when I spent several months working in the Czech Republic. The visits were nice but short. So this time around, it was nice to enjoy the city from the comforts of a historic Prague hotel.
Set in the historic old town
Prague is like a fairy tale city with each street and building as enchanting as the last one. Appia is set right in the heart of it all. Cobble stone streets lead you up a small hill to a more secluded spot where you’ll find this historic Prague hotel. I loved that it was sort of an escape from the busy, touristy Prague without leaving the centre of the city.
The space
After a quick and easy check-in, we were led through the garden and up a floor to our room. The garden space was probably my favorite part. I almost couldn’t believe it was still in Prague! It was super calm and relaxing. After a day of exploring the city, it was the perfect place to just chill out and enjoy a drink.
On our first night at the hotel, we met up with Prague blogger Lucka from Style Without Limits. The hotel has a bar. We were able to take our drinks out to the garden and enjoy the sunset.
It was amazing to me that this space was in Prague. Prague is such a busy city full of people. Yet in this garden, you can relax peacefully. I know we both really enjoyed hanging out in this space.
The room
We had a spacious and luxurious junior suite. Basically this means that there’s a king-size bed and a sofa bed. There was a little table as well so you could get any work you needed to done. I know I took advantage of that space to teach my online classes I absolutely loved the antique vibes. There was wood paneling along the ceilings and hard wood floors.
We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and some strawberries. This is a perk of one of their special packages.
The only odd thing about the room was the bathroom. The actual bathroom itself was very nice. I especially loved how spacious the shower was. However the wall was glass. While there was a curtain to cover most of it, you could still see into the bathroom when someone was peeing. While we didn’t necessarily care, I can see where it could be uncomfortable for a group of friends.
Oh and there was air conditioning in our room! Air conditioning isn’t exactly found everywhere in Europe, so I have thankful to have it.
The breakfast
I think the breakfast was one of my favorite parts of our stay. In case you didn’t know, not all hotel breakfasts are created the same.
The breakfast at Appia had quite the selection. There were so many different things to choose from. There were eggs and bacon. There were beans because apparently the hotel is a favorite among British travelers. They had an amazing selection of fruit and crepes that I still dream of.
Other things
This historic Prague hotel is quite a gem. The only advice I have is that if you have a lot of luggage, I’d consider getting a ride to the door. Luckily a ride from the airport is one of the services that they offer.
Overall, we were quite comfy in the Appia Residence Hotel. Could you envision yourself staying here?
