Berlin, Germany has long been on my list of travel destinations. From the history to the culture, I have known that Berlin is not a city to be missed. I was able to visit Berlin a few weekends ago and I stayed at the Circus Hostel Berlin. I feel like it’s quite fitting that I stayed there as I actually used to work at a circus company back in the United States on the side for about four years. Yes I can make you a balloon dog and also paint your face like Spiderman. I have acquired some random talents over the years.
Anyway, back to Berlin! So I stayed at the Circus Hostel in Berlin and definitely enjoyed myself. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hostel overall was nice and clean. So many people have this idea that hostels are dirty. Perhaps they assume that when you pay less than hotel, you get less than that. However that is often not the case with most of the hostels I stay in. Circus Hostel in Berlin was clean and well-decorated.
My room
I had a bed in a four-person dorm room. I loved this because there was no climbing involved! Sometimes when I stay in hostels, I get a top bunk bed. That can be a tad precarious to climb up into, especially as I am now no longer in my 20’s. So I was glad that I had a regular, twin-sized bed to sleep in.
I immediately struck up a conversation with the girl next to me when I returned that evening. She was from Australia and traveling through Europe for three months with a friend of hers. I always love that you meet so many cool people in hostels.
Green is one of my favorite colors! I love how they decorated the place overall! I had plenty of plugs right next to my bed to charge my phone. And each bed had a locker space. It was smaller, but enough space for all my important things like my computer, tablet and camera.
The bathrooms and showers were easy to use. They were kept clean, which I think we all love. I especially loved the space that I had in the shower. Some hostel showers barely give you enough space to put anything or change.
Drinking in the microbrewery
At check-in, everyone gets a little card with all sorts of helpful info. It also gets you a free drink sample in the microbrewery which is located in the basement of the hostel.
I loved the overall vibe of the microbrewery. The bar tender was quite nice and had a lovely conversation with myself and a friend of mine.
Overall the place had an inviting vibe to it. The cafe offered affordable prices and several breakfast options. The only downside was that there was no kitchen. They did have a refrigerator that you could store some things in. I know that a lot of people like to do a grocery store run and cook in the hostel kitchen to save money while traveling. Here, this was not an option. However I will say that the sandwiches offered in the cafe were no more than 5 Euros, so that was a plus.
It was also in a great location. The metro/subway was right there.
Overall, my stay at the Circus Hostel Berlin was quite nice. I would definitely recommend it. Have you been to Berlin before?
My stay at the Circus Hostel Berlin was complimentary in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
