When I was in the United States over the holidays, I worked with a stylist. In fact, I had some looks picked out for me. Now I know you’re probably thinking “but Nina, you cannot afford that. You work as a teacher.” Well if you work with Talbots, you don’t need to be rich to enjoy the benefits of a personal styling session.
In early January, my friend Amber and I did a little collaboration with the Butler County Visitor’s Bureau. Part of that visit included shopping at the Liberty Center. Our first stop was Talbots, of course. The ladies working there were so nice and told me about a personal styling service they offer. Basically if you’d like, you can make an appointment with them. They pick out looks based on your style and you try them on. It’s perfect for people who either hate shopping, don’t know what wear or simply want to change their style. It’s completely free as well (although I’m sure the ladies are hoping you’ll take at least a few pieces home with you).
I thought it would be fun to try a little style session at Talbots myself. So here are the looks I tried. Some were dresses some were skirt looks. I know it’s crazy … Nina in a skirt! However there are times when I don’t wear a dress.
Look 1: The politician
When I put this dress and jacket on, I immediately felt like a politician or some very important woman. I loved the tweed dress and the colors as well.
Look #2: The jean jacket look
I think this look was my favorite. As someone who wears dresses almost all the time, I loved how versatile this look was. Just throwing a jean jacket with a dress makes it look more casual.

Look #3: The skirt and sweater look
I really enjoyed this look. It was such a perfect winter look. I thought that this skirt was so cute. If I had an office job where I had to dress nicely everyday, I’d definitely wear this skirt. However working as a teacher in Spain and teaching online allows me to dress a bit more casually for work.
Anyway, this was the look.
Look #4: The other politician look
The ladies at Talbots all thought that this looked more like a politician. I would definitely have to agree. The blazer and the skirt together make it look very business professional. I don’t really have a place to wear this right now in my life, but I did really enjoy putting it on and playing dress up.
