A City With A Lot Of History
Yekaterinburg is famous for being the place of execution to the last Russian royal family, as well as being the birthplace to the Russian Federations first president. An excellent way to get there is to get on board the Trans-Siberian express and jump off at the train station. The city is steeped in history, and this is on display when walking around and looking at some of the architecture on show. An excellent place to start is at the city ponds, or the Dinamo building, walk along the banks of the Iset River and take in the Square of 1905 which was a significant site of conflict during the Russian Revolution. There is a lot to see in this city and walking around will allow you to soak up some of the atmosphere and culture that is prevalent.
Taste The Cuisine Of The Urals
Some of the Uzbek cuisine that is on offer will have your taste buds watering, and there are many different cafes and restaurants offering a smorgasbord of delights. There are also a lot of bars where you can enjoy a drink or two and sit outside as you watch life go past you.

There is also a vibrant and happening music scene in Yekaterinburg, and there is also a memorial to the Beatles in the centre of the city, which is funny as their music was once banned in the country! You can see many different styles of music on display including traditional Ural music, as well as local rock bands and even jazz music. No matter what your musical tastes are, you are sure to be able to find something that you like if you look hard enough.
Museums And Culture
There are some 60 museums and art galleries on offer when visiting Yekaterinburg, with some of the highlights being the Museum of Fine Arts, the Municipal Museum of Ural Writers, the Museum of Jewellery Art History, as well as the Ural Mineralogy Museum. You can also enjoy the vibrant art scene in the city with many artists highlighting the industrial heritage of the city. You may also see street artists as you wander around the city with some of them being quite provocative.

Whatever you decide to do when you stay in Yekaterinburg, the city is the perfect destination for those that like to explore and soak up the culture. If you are travelling along the Trans-Siberian Railway, then this is the ideal stop-off point for a couple of days and break up your train journey. After all, there is only so much you can see from the train, so make sure that you get off and explore. Otherwise, there is quite a lot that you will miss!
