Happiness that flows from within

Our weekly column from Ms. Pamela. This week she writes about happiness …

happiness

Hi L’BAE Nation you Beautiful Blessed People of God!!! I Pray that You All are as happy as Life can be! I Am! You may be wondering why, as my answer would be “no specific reason other than the fact that I am alive and breathing!” With this mindset I know that I can erase all of yesterday’s mistakes and live today as it is a fresh new beginning. I understand that there is nothing that is going to happen to me that my God and I cannot handle together. This is not a Sunday sermon so do not stray and lose your focus. My point is that your happiness is designed and laid out by you. Yes that is correct! No man has the ability to change your feelings about anything unless you allow them. So I ask you are you happy? If so does it show? Do your feelings of joy and aspiration glow from within captivating others attention by their presence? Maybe you feel as though you are not happy but you would like to be. Here are a few tips to help you bring out your happiness:

A List of Your Desires and a Positive Mindset!

• Write a list of things that would really make you happy to the point where you cannot contain your joy as the smile on your face gives everyone a warning that happiness is about to loom the room.
• Attain a calendar in order to write a date in which you plan to accomplish one goal or desired thing off of your list. This small task will bring a great sense of accomplishment and happiness will arise.
• Change your vocabulary with the use of positive words and phrases only. This also requires what you allow to enter into your ears…no listening to negative commentary!

When You Look Good, You Feel Good

I know that you have heard this saying before and I believe that it is absolutely true. When you feel confident in the way that you look, it gives you a sense of self-worth and power that you can handle anything that life throws your way. You exude happiness and joy as you creatively pick your style of fashion from your wardrobe, accessories, hair style and cosmetics for the day. You are radiant and will send a message to others that you feel great! What if you don’t feel great or exude happiness on a daily basis? This is okay as we all have our days when we want to escape from the worlds’ chaos. This is a normal feeling to have and it is up to us how long we allow this feeling to linger. So Don’t! Shake off those negative feelings and replace them with positive thoughts! Yes stimulate your mind …What’s a positive mind stimulus?

• Music
• Entertainment
• Movies
• Baking
• Dancing
• Art (Painting)

These are just a few ideas to promote a positive mindset in order to escape to a place of happiness! Don’t you want to be Happy! YES YOU DO! So let’s go, let your Happiness Flow through you and this way you can touch the lives of others by sending happiness their way! Awesomeness! L’BAE ALL DAY… Every Day! I’m Pamela the Inspirationalist Make it a L’BAE Day!

This week in review

Happy Friday! We have made it! As I reflect on this past week, a lot of neat things have happened. One week ago, I was beginning a voyage to Baltimore for the Notre Dame AmeriCorps Midyear conference. I am lucky to have the opportunity to serve as an AmeriCorps member this year at Su Casa Hispanic Center. Every year, Notre Dame AmeriCorps has a big conference with all their members nationwide. So approximately 200-300 people gathered together in one hotel all weekend. Fun, yes. Overwhelming? At times. So I started the week there and end it on my couch. Here are my fives:

1. Amerifam

midyear

The M is covering my face. But you all see me all the time. These are the people I serve with in Cincinnati. While I’m the only AmeriCorps member placed at Su Casa, these people are doing similar things at other organizations in the city. Some of these people I’ve hung out with before. Others I had the pleasure of getting to know over the weekend. Lots of hanging out in hotel rooms, playing card games and learning new things about each other.

2. Snow!

There is nothing better than snow coming down when you have nowhere to go. Sunday and Monday were a glorious winter wonderland in the Greater Baltimore area. Our members from Florida were loving it. They were having a snowball fight outside our hotel room. A lot of them had never actually seen snow and were quite excited about it.

3. This fireplace photo

We stayed at the Hunt Valley Inn, a nice hotel at the very edge of Baltimore. I found my room to be quite nice. The hotel lobby had some fun modern furniture and a fireplace. I was loving my outfit (pictured above) on Sunday and asked my friend Una, long-time A World of Dresses fan, to help me snap a few. This one is one of my favorites.

4. Sushi with Kendra

midyear

Kendra was actually one of the first people I featured on the blog. This was probably my favorite photo from that shoot. As soon as I turned my phone off airplane mode after landing in Cincinnati Tuesday, I got a text from Kendra asking me if I wanted to go get sushi. Of course I did. So we went to Mr. Sushi and had an amazing time talking about all the things.

5. Being back in the grind

I’m back at work this week and am loving every minute.

That’s all folks!

Pamela’s Love Makeover

We sure do love Pamela! This is our weekly column from the wonderful Pamela Pitts, owner of LBAE.

love

Hi L’BAE Nation you beautiful blessed people of God! There has been so much love in the air in the month of February between my 16th year wedding anniversary and Valentine’s Day that I am not ready to let go of the topic of love! Yes I know that love is continuous and that it doesn’t matter the time, day, or month of the year and that is exactly why I’m going to write about it today! Love is an emotion or feeling that some people would say that they have never felt, or are still yearning to have! This is a sad but true statement, as many of you reading this post may be able to relate! How does love feel? How does one acquire love? It depends, are you desiring love from the opposite sex such as a companion to spend the rest of your life with? Or do you desire the love from a family member such as your mother, father, sister, or brother? Maybe your desire is for your best friend to love you in the same capacity that you love them. Either way love (to me) is:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8New International Version (NIV)

This is how I think of Love when I say that I feel this way towards others. To answer the above questions as to how to acquire love from those you desire, I would say to just be yourself, let your light shine through and others will not be able to resist the natural attraction that will occur just from being honest. This post may seem a little depressing but it is important for us as humans to know that we not only need to receive love but that we also need to show/give it!

Attraction …

Is defined as to be lured, drawn, pulled or excited by something. In this case, another human being. Are you alluring to others? This could mean in any form or facets as we are all created with a multiplicity of unique qualities and attributions. Okay maybe you are wondering whether or not you are attracting to others? This is something that you would truly have to search within in order to answer. No worries for those that may need a little surface support in other words the exterior portion of who you are can be glam up with a little Love Makeover!

The Love Make Over

The love makeover is a little check list that I created in order to make sure that I am attracting positive people/things to my life. This check list can be used for many occasions and is always available when needed. Here are a few tips to create your own Love makeover check list:

  • A Positive Self-Regard not boastful but feeling good about one’s self.
  • A Smile that Gleams
  • A Polished Hygiene; Clean Hair, Fresh Breathe, Superb Body Odor
  • Fashion Forward– Hair, makeup (visit www. lbaeinspire.net), wardrobe/ shoes fit for any occasion
  • A Sharp Mental Capacity; in other words able to hold an intellectual conversation on any level.
  • A Positive Attitude– No one wants to hang out with Negative Nancy!
  • A Positive Word Vocabulary; Say nice things to people, give a compliment

These are just a few topics that I have on my Love Makeover list as these are the ones that I think are important for building a rapport with people from all walks of life. As an individual you must create your own Love make over list that fits who you are and your desires for those whom you are trying to attract, in order to establish and build upon a relationship that will blossom into love.

Remember love is patient, and love is kind…. Don’t rush it! It will come! Have a beautiful L’BAE Day! I am!

My look: purple and colorful

Hey all! I love purple! Also, I’m back from Baltimore and ready (more or less) for a week of work!

Today I’m sharing a look I wore about a week ago when I met my friend Hillary for coffee. She’s an amazing photographer. It was also a nice day for February, so I decided to put together a colorful look.

I found this dress about a year ago at Charming Charlie. I wanted something to wear in the winter to a work setting. This has been perfect.

Last Sunday, I paired it with some fun tights and a colorful scarf!

My conference look

I’m in Baltimore this weekend for the Notre Dame AmeriCorps Midyear Conference. This year I have committed myself to a year of service through AmeriCorps, a federally-funded service program. This is how I work at Su Casa Hispanic Center as the Bilingual Education Coordinator. Members commit to working 1700 hours at an organization for very, very little pay. The idea is to altruistically serve, something easier said than done. This conference, however, has been great for re-centering why I do the work I do.

I was loving my outfit on day two. The first day we were asked to wear our AmeriCorps t-shirts for our group photo. Day two, however, I was free to express myself. On once of my afternoon breaks I grabbed Una (My Closet: Tea with Una) and we shot a few photos around the Hunt Valley Inn, our hotel for the weekend.

This long weekend away has been great. Conferences are always a great way to re-focus. It can be hard to always feel good about work. My job is often long days with a lot going on. But being at this conference has helped me to refocus why I serve at Su Casa. Furthermore I met and heard talks from other people who work with Spanish-speaking immigrants. Nation-wide, Notre Dame AmeriCorps actually has a lot of services sites serving Spanish-speakers.

I love speaking Spanish and hope I always have an excuse to speak it.

Friday: High Fives All Around

When you actually read this post, I will most likely be on my way to Baltimore, MD. I have an AmeriCorps conference there this weekend. For those who may not know, AmeriCorps is a federally-funded program that places people in service positions all over the country. I’m serving this year at Su Casa Hispanic Center in Cincinnati. Most days, I speak a mix of Spanish and English. I get to know people from all over the world. It really is neat. Part of the experience is a big conference with everyone from my particular program. Ummm free flight, hotel and food when you’re making next to nothing? Yes, I will take it!

Anyway, here’s my five things from la semana pasada (last week):

1. Mardi Gras and the Voodoo Carnival

Baltimore

I played third wheel to my friends Amber and Nick Saturday night. I’m very extroverted, so on nights that I’m free and want to be social (which is mostly all the time), I text like 6+ people with “hey! What are you up to?” Amber was one of the 6+ and she invited me to tag along. We went to the Voodoo Carnival, an event put on by the Steampunk people in Cincinnati. I don’t really know if they have like a specific group name here. But Steampunk is this subculture and also writing genre around the idea of “re-imagining the era of steam.” People dress up in stuff from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, mostly. Like Amber here, on the right next to me, is wearing a wonderfully flapper-esque dress. Her boyfriend wore a kilt.

2. Coffeetime with Hillary

The weather was amazing Sunday. What? The crazy thing is that it started snowing like the next day. My friend Hillary and I met up for some photos. You should check her stuff out at hillarycutterphoto.com. I’m going to write a full post about this soon, but here’s a little teaser:

Baltimore

3. My job

I said this a little bit at the top, but I love my job at Su Casa. I get to practice my second language of Spanish on a daily basis while helping people and learning about new cultures. How neat is that?

4. My friend Grace

Wednesday was one of my best friend’s birthdays. We went to a little local bar for a few beers after work with our friend Katie. It was a good time.

Two years ago, Katie, Grace, myself and a few others took a trip down to Red River Gorge. It was kind of a disaster trip that we had fun moments during. I cannot believe this was two years ago:

5. Spending Valentine’s Day in Baltimore

The single life is the good life. I’m so ready for a weekend away with my Amerifriends.

Pamela’s Valentines Day tips

What a beautiful day awaits, as we anticipate the day that many of us will receive and cherish a gift as a representation of that special moment in time when our loved one shows us his/her love by the giving of their time or a token gift that says I Love you! Why do we get so excited about February 14th Valentine’s Day? I’ll tell you why: because we love gifts! Yes I said it and I admit it. I love to receive gifts; jewelry, clothing, hats, purses, shoes, chocolate and a nice dinner with all of the above! This is an amazing feeling to know that someone cares enough about you to adorn you with gifts that they feel that you are worth having! What about those of us who do not have a special Valentine? No worries! Valentine yourself because you are worth it! Yes that’s right here are a few tips on how to Valentine yourself on Valentine’s Day!

Valentine Yourself!

  1. Get dressed in your best out on the town attire. Fix your hair, makeup, put on a striking pair of heels, grab your purse and coat… you are ready to go.
  2. Pick your favorite restaurant, order your favorite drink, that tantalizing dessert and relax as you prepare to enjoy your dinner.
  3. Add in Fun… Dancing, movies, art, whatever you find enjoyable, do it!
  4. Don’t forget to take Pictures in order to capture the beautiful moments in time of you loving yourself!
  5. Last but not least…Adorn yourself with a Gift, because you are worth it! Take the time to Love yourself and cherish who you are on this special 2016 Valentine’s Day!

The Love of My Life

My husband and I just recently celebrated our 16-year wedding anniversary. It sounds amazing and it is, but now that Valentine’s Day is approaching what on earth can I get him and what will he get me? I know many of you may be wondering the same question as it relates to your significant other. This question poses an interesting answer when birthdays and other special occasions arise near the same date.

The answer…. Nothing! What? Yes absolutely nothing! Just kidding! You buy your spouse, or companion whatever it is that you would like for them to have! In my case my husband loves watches. It doesn’t matter how many he has. I know that he will still appreciate this as a gift. I on the other hand, call me spoiled, but my husband knows not to buy me real flowers. I hate the fact that they die. I like artificial flowers that I can keep forever on special occasions as well as a piece of jewelry to remember the date!

My point… Know your mate! His/hers likes and dislikes and you will be sure to win. One point that I would like to make clear although the gifts are nice and may be special for this Valentine’s Day occasion, always remember that love is from the heart and the gift is just an added bonus! So love on the “Love of your Life” even if it’s yourself and Enjoy! I pray that you all have a beautiful L’BAE Valentine’s Day! I Am… L’BAE All Day Every Day! I’m Pamela the Inspirationalist… Make it a L’BAE Day!

My top 3 dog photo-bombs

So tonight I was going through some old photos for a few blog housekeeping things and realized that my dog has photo-bombed at least several of my photos. I love my dog a lot. His name is Toby and he’s a five-year-old yellow labrador/golden retriever mix. He has lots of energy and loves people more than anything. When we come home, he has his notorious excited bark that he barks which is followed by a friendly tail wag as he runs up to you. In the mornings sometimes I’ll hear him whimpering outside of my bedroom door as if to say “I hear you’re up and I wanna come hang out!”

Is that not the cutest dog you’ve ever seen or what? I’m not biased or anything …

Here are the photos he’s bombed:

Mardi gras and the Voodoo Carnival

The Voodoo Carnvial was Saturday night and I went with a few friends. Remember Amber (My Closet: Amber the Entertainer) and all her fun costume dresses? Well she and her boyfriend let me play third wheel and tag along to this wonderful event at the Southgate House Revival.

voodoo

Here Amber is in full costume. The Voodoo Carnival is a steampunk masquerade that has been happening since 2011. Stempunk is a fun group of people who get together to re-imagine the era of steam. They have conventions and events. My description is probably not doing it justice, so you should look at this: www.steampunk.com/what-is-steampunk/

Amber has been involved for a while now. Here is what she put together:

For my outfit, I opted for more of a Mardigras theme. I found my headpiece at Talk of the Town, a fun vintage and costume shop in the Cincinnati area. The dress is a Forever 21 find from two New Years Eves ago.

H54F: better late than never

Hello all! So it is a lovely Friday night in for me! I started posting High Five for Friday posts before Christmas and just love it! This morning I was rather rushed and did not have the time to write a post. As I spend a lazy evening in tonight, I figured why not write one now? Better late than never. So here are five reasons why this week rocked!

1. Reiki

Friday

On Monday I had my very first reiki session with Tisa of Love Light & Laughter. This woman makes her very own holistic soaps, bath salts and other neat products. I currently have her new shaving soap, detox bath and a soap made with dragonsblood and activated charcoal. I’ve used all three products and they are fantastic.

Anyway, back to the reiki. Reiki is this really neat holistic treatment. I wrote all about he experience in my post here: My First Reiki Experience.

2. Photography and my walk in the park

After my reiki session, I decided to take some time to just be. I found a beautiful park just as it was getting dark. I put my phone in the love compartment so that I would be free of distraction. I also needed to work on my photography in the dark skills, so it was perfect. This photo is my favorite:

Friday

3. Surprises

I love helping plan surprises. In April, I’m going to be a bridesmaid in my friend Sara’s wedding. The shower was Saturday in Danville, Kentucky. Since her maid of honor lives in Denver, she assumed she wouldn’t be able to make it. She assumed wrong!

Friday night, I picked Katie up at the airport and she stayed with me. Saturday morning we drove down and surprised Sara at Cracker Barrel. The look on her face was the best. Full post about that is here: Hangers and Surprises. While we’re doing some shout outs, you all should check out Hang it Up Hangers, a business my friend Megan owns. She made me an amazing personalized dress hanger for Sara’s big day.

Friday

4. Sleeping in

I slept in on Sunday and Monday. It was amazing.

5. One of my favorite co-workers got a new job

Friday

So this one is sad, actually. This is Lindsey. I blogged about her eons ago (Lindsey’s dresses). This photo is from said story and also oddly the dress she wore on her last day at Su Casa today. I’m happy that she has a new job. It also seems like quite a step up, which is great. But I will miss her. There’s something so great about coworkers you just click with. I will miss her and whoever they hire to replace her will not be as cool.

Alright, that’s all folks. Here’s why I’m linking up with today:
