The Striped Maxi Dress Perfect for Everything

I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve written a 100% fashion piece. My striped maxi dress might be just the right excuse. However when you live in Spain, even fashion posts have a hinge of a travel element to them when your backdrop consists of beautiful, historic buildings and cobblestone streets.

It was maybe a few months back and I wanted to add another maxi dress to the collection. Furthermore as a teacher, I was searching for something that I could wear to work. This striped blue and grey maxi from Pink Blush was just the dress I was looking for.

A Weekend in León, Spain

weekend in León

When my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to spend a weekend in León with him for a friend’s sort of wedding celebration thing (said friend apparently hates suits), I said why not? The thing with living in Spain is even three years in, I still have unexplored cities and towns. The country is simply full of too many amazing places.

I’ll admit that before spending a weekend in León, I knew very little about the city. I knew that the name of the autonomous region Castilla y León came from the city and that it had an impressive cathedral. What I didn’t know is how much I’d end up loving the city.

A Day Trip to Pilsen from Prague

day trip to Pilsen

I remember that taking a day trip to Pilsen was one of the first things I wanted to do in the Czech Republic. When I spent my summer there several years ago, I admittedly knew next to nothing about the rest of the country. I remember the town of Pilsen sticking out to me for one reason: beer.

That summer, however, I didn’t make it to Pilsen. So when I found myself in the Czech Republic yet again, I knew that I had to visit Pilsen. Luckily, it was ridiculously easy to get to Pilsen from Prague.

The Best Weekend Getaways From Dublin

getaways from Dublin

While Dublin’s museums, beautiful Georgian doorways, and craft beer scene could certainly fill an entire trip, we can think of some good reasons to venture beyond Ireland’s capital city. There are many great getaways from Dublin close by. Glistening lakes, rugged filming locations, and scenic coastal drives are just a few reasons to get out of town.

Luckily, most of the country’s charms are just a car, train, bus or taxi ride from the city center.

Meet Me 23: A Quirky and Modern Prague Hotel

modern Prague hotel

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Prague is a little bit weird. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always enjoyed every Prague visit. However the city has this sort of quirky charm and the modern Prague hotel Meet Me 23 just proves it even more.

Located right next to the Hlavní Nadrazí train station (where you can catch trains to cities and towns all over the country and region) and within minutes of Old Town Prague, this hotel could not be in a better location. However it’s location, while excellent, is not what makes this place loveably quirky. Instead the blue men are what make you do a double-take when you arrive.

A Dive into the Baltic: Experiencing a Finnish Sauna

Finnish sauna

To visit Finland and not go to a traditional Finnish sauna is like not seeing the Eiffel Tower on a visit to Paris. You simply cannot miss it. Furthermore, I never like to say no to anything that is considered self-care. A day at a Finnish sauna definitely falls under that category.

The tradition of a Finnish sauna

Most of us have a basic idea of what a sauna is like. Some of us have perhaps even experienced one say at the gym or at a spa. Most of us consider a sauna to be a blazing hot room that you sit in for about 15 minutes, cool off and repeat. However they are such an integral part of Finnish culture.

An Escape to a Czech Countryside Hotel

Czech countryside hotel

Sometimes the worst travel fails make for the best stories afterwards. When the end of your travel fails includes a stay at a luxury Czech countryside hotel, it’s not really so bad in the end. Let me back up.

So back in June, Alex (blogger friend from East Coast Contessa) and I spent a night out in the Czech village of Karlstejn. An escape from the bustle of Prague was just the thing we needed. However the journey out there was filled with a few hilarious bumps along the way. After a train that went back to the Prague train station and bad Google Maps directions, we finally ended up at the romantic Hotel Mlyn Karlstejn. Yes, I went to a romantic hotel with my blogger bestie.

The Best Hostel in Helsinki City Centre

One of my favorite things to do as a blogger is show you that travel doesn’t have to be as expensive as you probably think. When you hear about Finland or Northern Europe in general, you probably don’t associate it with the phrase budget-friendly. However when I went to Helsinki back in June, I stayed in the most affordable hostel in Helsinki city centre.

Today I’m going to tell you all about Euro Hostel Helsinki City Hub! Prices start out around 26€/night. When hotels can cost triple that, that’s really not too bad of a price. Plus only 2-3 people share a dorm room at this hostel, so if you go for the lowest price, it won’t be like some hostels where you’re sharing a room with 10-20 strangers.

A Local Krakow Food Tour You Will Want to Go on

local Krakow food tour

It started with a beer and it ended with some cheesecake. If it were a typical food tour, I probably wouldn’t have to tell you much else. However when you take a local Krakow food tour with Urban Adventures, it’s always so much more than your typical touristy tour that hurdles you from one overpriced restaurant to another.

I’ve been on tours with Urban Adventures in London, Budapest and Prague, so I was excited to see how they did things in Krakow when I visited the city back in early June. I had a rough knowledge of Polish cuisine, but there was a lot I could learn. So Alex from East Coast Contessa and I went on the Food by Foot tour.
