Murcia, Spain Weekend in my Red Dress

Murcia, Spain

Back in February, I took a long weekend trip to Murcia, Spain. In Spain, we have these things called puentes. A puente is a bridge. It also means when you have several days off of work or school that coincide with a weekend. I had one of these back in February, so I used it to go visit a friend.

Have you heard of Murcia, Spain? Unless you’ve spent some time in Spain, you probably haven’t. Before my long weekend in Murcia, I had heard a little bit about the region. I knew that it was in the southeast corner of Spain and that there were some good beaches in the region. It had been on my list for awhile, so when my friend moved there to teach this fall, I made plans to go visit her.

After a spending a few days in Murcia, I have concluded that it’s basically Spain’s hidden gem. I enjoyed myself in the city more than I thought I would. It’s the kind of place I could even see myself living in.

Today I’m going to show you two of the dresses I wore while visiting Murcia, Spain and tell you about the places we went. If you find yourself in Murcia, I hope you go to these same places and discover some new ones for yourself!

I also am collaborating with some other bloggers today. Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood is having a blogging birthday party! That includes a linkup, which is also below. Fashion bloggers, feel free to link up your blog posts below!

Day 1 in Murcia, Spain

Getting from La Rioja to Murcia is not an easy feat. Unfortunately, there are no direct buses or trains that go from where I live to Murcia. So I opted to take two Blablacars. Have you heard of Blablacar? If not and you’re traveling in Europe, you should! It’s a ridesharing app that I’ve used many a times!

I left Logroño around 1:30 a.m. and arrived in Murcia around lunch time. I was tired, but I wanted to stay up and explore the city. So we hit up one of the best spots for brunch! It’s called Socolá, and it’s a bakery and coffeeshop. They have both a typical Spanish breakfast and more of an international breakfast with things like pancakes and french toast. I had a wonderful time, so I’d definitely recommend it!

After a good brunch, we spent time exploring the streets of the city. Murcia is full of plazas and beautiful places to go for a walk. We stumbled upon this spot. I love how the flowers went with my dress.

On our way to brunch, we stumbled upon some wonderful street art. So of course we also had to shoot a few photos in front of it.

That evening, my friend had some online teaching to do. So I decided to take a walk through her neighborhood on my own. I stumbled upon the City Museum of Murcia. It was free to visit, so I of course stopped in for a bit.

Day 2: Cathedral views and a day trip

One of the best views in Murcia is the cathedral. It sits in the city center with restaurants surrounding it. I did not go in, but I did take some photos in front of it (like you do).

After wandering around for a bit, we returned home before heading back out on our little day trip. We met up with some of her friends and headed out to the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora Virgin de la Fuensanta. It’s a beautiful place for an afternoon hike that’s only a short bus ride outside of the city.

All I know that is after spending a few days in Murcia, Spain, I have just scratched the surface of all the things I want to see and do there. If you’re planning a visit, I’d definitely recommend checking out murciaturistica.es. This site has all sorts of information not just on Murcia city but the region as well.

If you liked it, pin it so others can find it!
