Exploring Lagos, Portugal and a linkup

exploring Lagos, Portugal

Hey all! Last week I spent a few days exploring Lagos, Portugal. If you have never been there, Lagos is a town on the beach in the Southern region of Algarve. I stayed with Top City Hostel for three days and had a great time exploring everything. The beaches in Lagos are truly unique.

On my last evening in town, my friend Jade and I from It’s time to explore shot some photos in the town and along the beach. So here’s a little roundup of just that! Also I’m co-hosting a linkup today! The details about that are below! Fashion bloggers, feel free to link up your posts!

Top City, a Fun Lagos Hostel in the Algarve

travel cheap or free

One of my favorite countries to explore has been Portugal. I just completed my third of hopefully many trips to Spain’s wonderful and beautiful next door neighbor. This time, I decided to head south and explore the Algarve region. I spent three nights at a fun Lagos hostel called Top City.

When I travel, I typically stay in hostels. I find that nowadays, lots of hostels are actually pretty nice. I’ve stayed in quite a few that are modern and clean. Furthermore, I love the social environment that hostels cultivate. As someone who truly enjoys meeting people from all over the world, I love hanging out in the common areas. I’ve ended up having some of the coolest conversations and formed friendships. This sort of thing really doesn’t happen as much in hotels.

5 tips to choose the best road trip car

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

I love road trips. I just love traveling on the open road and exploring new places. I love that when I go on a road trip, I get to travel at my own pace. I can stop for this or that. I can take a leisurely lunch or eat at the wheel. The choice is mine.

However not all cars are created equal. Some cars simply make for better road trip vehicles. Here are my tips on how to choose the best road trip car.

15 photos that will make you want to visit Analucia

visit Andalucia

If you travel to Spain, you have to visit Andalucia. It’s a must. When I see people talking about traveling to Spain, they always seem to list Madrid and Barcelona first. I get it. I mean if you only have a limited time in Europe, you just try to hit the largest cities. You think “well I can at least say I’ve been to Spain if I go to Barcelona.” And I’m not knocking either of these cities. I’ve been to both several times and they are quite enjoyable. However if you just stick to those two cities, you miss out on a lot of the charm and character of Spain.

Andalucia is the southern-most region of Spain. It’s also the largest autonomous community in the country. Flamenco dancing was born in Andalucia. Tapas are severed free with beverages in many restaurants. Things are cheaper and the weather is nicer.

Spring dresses with Quiz Clothing

Spring dresses are one of my favorite things to shop for. I’m the girl who wears dresses year-round. In the winter, this means loading up on sweater tights. While I love wearing different colored tights and such, I’m also excited for more “dress weather.” I’m excited for the sun to shine brighter, the temperatures to rise and my spring dresses to live. There’s a boutique I pass on my way home that has transformed their shop into spring. It’s always hard to not walk in and buy six spring dresses.

Quiz Clothing is one online retailer that has quite a selection of spring dresses. Quiz Clothing is a British company that originally started in 1993 with just three shops in Scotland. They now have more than 250 shops and concessions throughout the UK and many franchises throughout Europe. Their online shop started in 2005. Their focus is fun fashion at an affordable price.

5 hostel survival tips for your next trip

hostel survival tips

Hostel survival tips are pretty essential for making the most of budget travel. I have plenty. As many of my readers know, I prefer hostels over anything else when I travel. They save me money and have introduced me to some really cool people from all over the world. I work as an English teacher in Spain. While I certainly make more than enough money to live comfortably in Granada (Spain is cheap and basically all the restaurants serve tapas with a drink), traveling can be a tad bit trickier. Either you have those folks who saved up for years before moving to Spain and jet off every weekend or you have people like me. People who choose to travel on whatever is left over each month and the extra cash earned from private lessons taught to adorable children in the evenings.

My Happiness Boutique statement earrings

Happiness Boutique statement earrings

One piece of jewelry I always wear are earrings. I love to have a wide variety of fun earrings to add to different outfits. When I saw the earrings from Happiness Boutique, I was excited. In fact, it was hard to pick just a few as there were many I liked. These Happiness Boutique statement earrings were what I decided upon.

What is Happiness Boutique?

Happiness Boutique is an online shop based in Berlin, Germany. All of their pieces have a vintage flair to them. Their goal is to spread happiness and joy through their jewelry. On their website, you can find necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. They made this cute video about spreading happiness.

Happiness Boutique also offers free shipping worldwide and a 60-day return policy. So it doesn’t matter if you’re in Berlin or all the way over in California. It will still be the same cost. They also have a super cool reward program where you can earn points for things like joining their newsletter, writing reviews and sharing photos on social media.

5 ways to do Bruges on a budget

When I say I live in Europe, it sounds like I could just travel anywhere all the time. While that would certainly be the dream, the reality is that I work in Spain as a teacher. While I certainly make more than enough to live comfortably here each month, it doesn’t always allow for extravagant spending when traveling outside of Spain. Furthermore, not all parts of Europe were created equal. I spent my winter vacation in the Netherlands and Belgium. Before going, I knew I needed to have a plan. A Bruges on a budget plan.

You for sure can spend lots of money when you travel. You also don’t have to and you can still have a good time. Here are 5 ways we did Bruges on a budget.

A little red dress collaboration

A little red dress is another essential dress to own. Today I’m teaming up with some other fashion bloggers in our little red dresses. February in Women’s Heart Disease Month and hence we are all wearing red for that.

What’s the story behind this dress?

I found this dress on my weekend trip to Guadix. They have this Saturday market there and I found this for just 10 euros! I love this style of a fit and flair dress. I also love the buttons on the sleeves.
