The vintage blue dress + linkup

I’m excited to share with you my long awaited vintage blue dress. Due to the crazy weather we’ve been having in Spain, it arrived later than anticipated. The original idea was that I would add pops of red with this look and create something for Valentine’s Day. However you cannot control the weather or the postal system in Spain.

Taking some me time

This past week and weekend, I’ve taken some more time for me. Whether that meant journaling about my life and future to meditation music, taking several naps throughout the day last Sunday afternoon and just spending time not doing much of anything, I’ve been taking things a bit slower. Hence I got off my normal blogging track for a bit.

Last week, someone on Twitter tweeted something to the effect of “being a content creator is hard. It’s okay to take a break.” That really resonated with me. We are always thinking of new stuff, creating new stuff and then promoting the heck out of it. I feel like many of you would be amazed at all the things bloggers do and spend time on. Those of you who are bloggers of course get it. So I decided to just slow down and rest a bit. And reflect. It was nice.

Also the overseas life is a lot. That’s another thing I think I downplay. As I was meditating and journaling, an interesting thought came to me. “Nina, next time you start to think you’re a failure in some sort of way, remember that a year and a half ago you picked up and moved to Spain. You have successfully lived in a foreign country for almost two years now. That’s not the easiest thing to do and you succeeded to do it … and do it well.” This also means taking care of myself and giving myself me time. It’s a lot to live in a foreign country and I sometimes underestimate that.

The vintage blue dress

As mentioned before, I initially envisioned putting some royal red accessories with this vintage blue dress. While I might still do that another time, this dress reminded me of the Jetsons when I put it on. It has a vintage look but also futuristic at the same time. I’ve been doing a lot of photoshoots with a photographer named Miguel here in Granada. That’s one nice thing about this year. I’ve been more proactive about finding a good photographer for blog shoots. Miguel is actually the boyfriend of one of my American friends here and he was having an exhibit of his work. I remember thinking “I should go and see if he’s interested in working together.” So I did and here I am months later with some pretty cool photos.

When I sent him a picture of this vintage blue dress, he suggested silver boots. I was lucky to find these ones on sale at Primark for 8 euros!

This shoot was different from what I normally do. I suppose as the cliche American living in Spain, I opt for blog shoots in the historic parts of the places I live or travel to. The Albaicin, for example, is one of the most breathtaking parts of Granada. I’ll admit that I never would have thought to do a shoot in a place like this. However when Miguel suggested it, I figure “why not?”

This sort of concrete jungle was super fun to shoot in. It went perfectly with my vintage blue dress look.
