An Insider’s Guide to Málaga

Today we have a guest post written by Dani from Sincerely Spain. It’s about a city close to my old home of Granada and one definitely worth checking out!

As one of the few cities in Andalucía with an affordable, international airport, Málaga has come to be regarded by many as a coastal hotspot. However, I have to be honest with you—the first time I visited I wasn’t impressed. Perhaps calling Granada home jades you a bit because anything less than the breathtaking Alhambra feels a bit lackluster but I was also unlucky enough to visit on one of the only weekends of the year that it rained and was mostly constrained to indoor activities, so that didn’t help either. All that being said, I never intended to return to Málaga but through a series of unexpected events I ended up returning quite regularly.

4 things to do in Atlanta

things to do in Atlanta

I have been back in the United States for about a week now. Initially, the plan was to just come to Cincinnati, and visit friends and family. However this year, my best friend was unable to come up to Ohio for the holidays. So thanks to a cheap flight I found, we met up in Atlanta for the day! Our day was full of all sorts of fun things to do in Atlanta.

The last time I had really visited Atlanta was over fall break of my sophomore year of college. My friend Elizabeth (who I also got to see) is from Atlanta and we spent several days exploring the city. Being 31 now, that was 12 years ago! It’s crazy how the time flies! This time around, we only had one day in the city. We made the most of it by visiting some key spots in the city!

Christmastime and thoughts on being home

First of all, Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it! I am back in Cincinnati, Ohio, spending the day with my extended family. However instead of writing about the dress I’m wearing or the crazy place I’m traveling to next, I thought I would be rather real with you all. Being home for the holidays this time around has felt rather … different. Let me back you up and give some back story as to why.

Three years ago, my mother was put in hospice around this time. She had suffered a brain aneurysm that August and was in the hospital ever since. It was a tough time for my family, to say the least. I was 28 at the time. No one ever expects to loose their mom at 28. So during this time, I worked during the days and spent the evenings with my mother contemplating what was ultimately to come. She made it through Christmas, but passed soon after in early January. Since then, I’ve had to get used to Christmas without my mother. It’s definitely hard considering that she was such a part of Christmas before.

How to Experience Cinque Terre in One Day

Cinque Terre in one day

About a month ago, I found myself exploring the beaches of Italy. I had flown to Milan for the weekend to catch up with an old college friend who also recently moved to Europe. Since the lovely coastal region of Cinque Terre is only a few hours away by train, we decided to spend one of our days exploring the beaches and adorable villages of that region. It was actually very easy to do Cinque Terre in one day!

Where is Cinque Terre?

Before this trip, I had assumed that Cinque Terre was just a town. I had seen Instagram and Pinterest posts with beautiful photos of the villages and beaches full of many colors. I knew it was a place that I would have to visit one day.

What I came to find out on this trip is that Cinque Terre is almost like a small region with a handful of small villages. In theory, you could walk from village to village. That would take you almost a day, so we opted to take the train from town to town. The walkways between some of the villages were also closed due to environmental problems, so it wouldn’t have been possible anyway.

Winter Wedding Dresses

Have you been invited to a winter wedding? I have. In fact, it’s basically the first thing I’m going to do when I arrive in the United States for the holidays. Winter wedding dresses are just a bit different than summer ones. It can be hard to know exactly what to wear in the colder months. However this post will serve as sort of a guide to how to dress and how to dress well for a winter wedding.

The dresses I’m showing you today are from Kemedress. Kemedress is an online company that makes 100% handmade dresses, according to their website. They have all the dresses you could ever need for your wedding day. In addition to wedding dresses, they also have bridesmaid, mother of the bride and flower girl dresses. Also if you’re simply a wedding guest, they have you covered there. The wedding I’m going to attend in the US is black tie optional, so these guys have definitely been some inspiration!

All of these images are linked to where you can buy them, so feel free to click away!

Long dresses

A long dress might be the way to go in the colder months. You’ll probably be a lot more comfortable walking in the elements.

A dress like this is simple and yet classy. You can easily add different colors to it to make the look pop a bit. I personally would add perhaps a royal red or a royal blue.

A simple yet classy one shoulder dress is another good option! The thing I love about this dress is the many colors that it comes in!

Shorter winter wedding dresses

A shorter dress is also an option for a winter wedding. Here are two that I really liked.
