This was collaborative content. It has been forever since I’ve gone to homecoming (oldie over here). But I do remember the anxious feelings of high school dances.
Homecoming is the perfect chance to really bring your school spirit and get all dressed up for an amazing night of dancing and laughter. The entire build up and planning process is exciting, but there’s also the worry about who you’re going to go with.
But, whether you’d prefer to go to homecoming alone or no one has asked you, it’s all good. You don’t need a date to have fun on the night. Here are some tips for making the most of homecoming without a date.
1. Find a Group of People Who Are Going Alone
Talk to your friends. Find out who else would prefer to go to homecoming on their own and make plans to get ready and go together. You can even hit the dance floor together and you’ll never feel completely alone. In fact, you could also check out the 2018 red homecoming dresses at the reliable Peaches Boutique shop and help one another pick out the perfect dress.
2. Your Dream Dress
Speaking of dresses, with no need to worry about a date, you don’t even have to think twice about whether or not your preferred dress will match a date’s. Want to wear silver from head to toe? Go for it.
Always wanted to wear glow-in-the-dark shoes? The choice is yours. From young ladies’ fashion preferences to doing whatever you want to do, going to homecoming alone means you can do it.
3. Dance with Whoever You Want to
With no date to have to attend to, every song is an opportunity to dance with the girl or guy you think is so cute. Always wanted to chat to that cutie with the locker down the hall from yours? Now’s the perfect chance.
4. Have Photos Taken with Everyone
Those organised school portraits with pros and strange backgrounds can get a little awkward. But, since you don’t have a date, you also don’t have any obligation to strike a weird pose. Instead, gather up that group of friends, head for the photo area and smile like it is the best night of your life. Strike a pose, pull a tongue – do whatever you want to!
5. Trade Boutonnieres or Corsages with a Friend
It really doesn’t matter if you don’t have a date to bring you a boutonniere or corsage. It doesn’t mean you won’t necessarily get to wear one, either. Ask a friend if they want to do the customary exchange with you. By doing that, you can still have your perfect homecoming accessory.
6. Get Your Own Flowers
Here’s the thing; there really are no hard and fast rules about school dances. You don’t have to trade boutonnieres or corsage with anyone if you don’t want to. You could buy your own or just ditch the tradition altogether.
7. Throw Your Own After Party
Rather than waiting for an invite to an after part after the dance, or dreading parties filled to the brim with couples, make your own plans. Have a sleepover with your group of friends, plan a theme party of even take a trip to the diner for some munchies. Just invite the friends who went to the dance alone, too, make the night your very own.
With these tips, you can totally rock homecoming without a date.
