My stay at the Hotel Real, Segovia

I recently decided to splurge and stayed in a 4-star hotel. Those of you who read my blog regularly know that I stay in hostels a lot of the time. As an English teacher, hostels are always in my budget and mean that I can spend the extra money on more exhibits or drinks. However this past week, I decided to splurge and stay at the Hotel Real Segovia.

Okay so splurge … for me this meant 55 euros. How did I find that price? On hotels.com of course! The summer camp I had worked for in July flew me back to Madrid. Since I have already been to Madrid several times, I decided to explore a few places nearby. I had seen many amazing photos of the town of Segovia, Spain, so I decided to spend a night there. After looking through several hotels, I decided that Hotel Real Segovia looked like a nice place to stay. I also deserved to treat myself a bit after a month of hard work.

The location

The hotel was right in the middle of the city. It was only maybe a 5-minute walk to Plaza Mayor and about a 6-7 minute walk to the famous Segovia aqueduct. The only thing that ended up being a tad complicated was catching a taxi there. My driver was not allowed to drive me right up to the door, but he got close! A minute walk is sure better than a 20-minute one, which would have been my walk if I hadn’t taken a taxi

The check-in

I had no complaints about the check-in process. During my stay, I interacted with two staff members at the front desk. Both were incredibly friendly and helpful.

My room

My room was absolutely perfect. I think compared to what a lot of Americans are used to, it was small. However I’ve been in Europe for two years now, so I’ve gotten used to things just being smaller in general.

The bed was amazingly comfortable and there was air conditioning! It can be a rare treat to have AC in Spain!

It was so nice to just have some peace and quiet for a night. I had absolutely no schedule. I could wake up whenever, eat wherever I wanted and do whatever I wanted.

The rooftop

I think the rooftop was one of my favorite things about the hotel. It had an amazing view of the city. There were also lounge chairs and tables up there for people who wanted to relax a bit in the sun.

The Hotel Real Segovia

In general, the hotel had sort of this old charm about it. I loved wandering around and seeing it all. The rooms seemed to be remodeled but they kept the charm of the old architecture and decorations.

Overall, my stay at the Hotel Real Segovia was very comfortable! It was just what I needed after my month away!

Also I was super excited to accumulate hotels.com points. If you’re not aware, if you book 10 nights with them, you get the 11th night for free. That was how I stayed in Lanjarón basically for free! Check it out here.
